What are the treatments like?
Specific settings are selected for each treatment, and Fotofacials take up to about 30 minutes. A mild amount of discomfort can be expected during treatment, but this is only momentary, as the StarLux® system gives unparalleled cooling at the point of contact to the skin, quickly reducing any stinging sensation. Immediately following a treatment the skin may appear red and flushed, and tiny capillaries and brown spots may appear darker. All of these changes gradually fade over a period of time, ranging from a few hours to a few days, but down-time is minimal and there is no need for time off work.

What result can I expect?You can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing and dilated capillaries (thread veins). Many people with a more advanced Rosacea see an improvement in breakouts of red spots (papules), and may be able to decrease or discontinue their medication. People with visible ageing from sun damage can expect to see their skin become smoother, with the decrease in fine wrinkles, a reduction in pore size and fading of sun spots.

How soon will I see results?After your first treatment your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even tone. These improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. Between three to five treatments are performed for optimum results, but some clients will benefit from additional treatments.

AftercareYour Aesthetic Practitioner will apply a cooling gel immediately after the treatment. This gel significantly helps to cool and soothe the skin and reduce after-effects. A cooling roller or compress may also be applied, followed by a mineral sunscreen where appropriate.
It is essential to avoid sun exposure and tanning, including fake tan, prior to treatment and between treatments.Where do I start?Please telephone Skin Solutions to book your appointment for a treatment, which is always preceded by a consultation and patch test on your first visit. The cost of the consultation and patch test (£
50) is deducted from the cost of your first treatment if taken on the same day.
